How is the English NHS prescription drugs budget spent?

In the financial year (FY) 2017/18, NHS England spent £8.2 billion on prescription drugs prescribed by general practitioners to their patients. This level of expenditure has decreased by nearly 1.0% from FY 2016/17. In this report, we investigate the drivers of this trend at a drug class and regional level using actuarial principles.
